Welcome to Thunder Junction
Remember those Saturday afternoons spent slinging spells with (or against) your mates? It's been roughly seven years since I've played or added to my MTG collection, but with some of the recent sets and now this one adding a heap to the game; It seemed the perfect time to dive back in.
For anyone that hasn't played or collected in some time, Outlaws of Thunder Junction might just rekindle that spark. This new set takes place on a wild-west inspired plane where notorious villains from across the Multiverse have converged, all vying for a piece of the legendary Maag Taranau's treasure.
Calling All Aussie and New Zealand Outlaws!
If you're from Down Under and feelin' the outlaw spirit, then listen up! From now until May 31st, there's a "Heist Season" happening at your local Wizards Play Network (WPN) stores. Participate in events and rack up some serious loot, including an MTG Bandana, Character Badges, Wanted Posters, and even Gold-Coloured Metal Tokens featuring the legendary gang members.
New Mechanics on the Horizon
Outlaws of Thunder Junction ain't just about slinging spells and bashing creatures. This set introduces some rootin' tootin' new mechanics to keep things interesting:
Plot: Ever wish you could play a powerful card later without tappin' all your mana? Plot lets you exile a card face-up for its plot cost, then cast it on a later turn for free!
Mount Up! : These powerful creatures can be "ridden" by tapping enough of your other creatures. Just imagine a Goblin ridin' a giant sandworm – that's the kind of chaos Mounts can bring!
Crime Does Pay: In Thunder Junction, targetin' your opponent's stuff is considered a "Crime." But hey, crime can pay off with the Breaking News Bonus Sheet – a collection of special cards themed around the set.
There's More Than Meets the Eye
Outlaws of Thunder Junction boasts a variety of special card treatments for collectors. Look out for:
Borderless Art Rares and Mythic Rares with stunning artwork that bleeds right off the card.
Special Guests: Iconic cards featuring characters like Vraska and Kellan.
Full-Art Basic Lands: These breathtaking lands capture the essence of the Wild West setting.

The Wild West theme is perfectly captured with the epic art style, making these cards amazing additions to any collection. But it's not just the nostalgia trip for me – the awesome new mechanics like Plot, Mounts, and Crime add a whole new layer of strategic depth to the game. Outlaws of Thunder Junction is a solid addition to the TCG and has our solid stamp of approval, offering side-splitting schemes, legendary loot, and a chance to relive the thrill of MTG with a fresh new twist. Who knows, you might even surprise yourself and become the next top outlaw...or at least have a blast collecting some awesome new cards!
