Hogwarts Legacy Intro Mini Review

If you are looking for a truly unbiased view of this game, then you've come to the right place. I've watched about 1/2 of the first Harry Potter movie a few times and never finished or continued on to the other movies. I have nothing against the world, but I guess I was too busy with Pokemon and Dragon Ball Z haha At the end of the day, if a game 'looks' good or fun to me I'm going to give it a go...so here we are a few hours into Hogwarts Legacy on PC and I'm giving a spoiler-free review of the Intro only so far, here we go!

Hogwarts Legacy takes place in 1980 at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry long before any of the movies in an untold story of the history of Hogwarts and the art of magic. After you create your initial character, you begin your journey to the school of Hogwarts, only to be rudely interrupted by a massive dragon that leaves you and Professor Fig stranded in a cave to and left to find your own way to Hogwarts. This journey is an interactive intro, getting you used to basic controls and getting you familiar with the combat mechanics in a couple of small but impressive combat scenarios. The movement and combat are simple and just work nicely, even showing you how to use different types of spells at this time and perform actions like blocking and countering and then throwing a few puzzles your way. The graphics are something really next-gen in this game, from the ocean water to the lighting and shadows (we have RTX ON) and all of the effects in between. You will find yourself captured and fully immersed in this world full of magic and mystery and itching to play more. Once you arrive at Hogwarts, you make your way to the Sorting Ceremony where you will be sorted into one of the 3 houses and embark on the rest of your adventure at Hogwarts. Good luck, and have fun!
